Make the very best use of all the talent that is available
Jim O’Sullivan, Chief Executive of Highways England
“As Chief Executive of Highways England I feel we should set an example across the construction and engineering industries to encourage and inspire women in transport by nurturing success.
“At Highways England, we recognise that, among other factors, the right culture brings success, which is why in September 2014 we founded the Leading Women’s Network. It provides a supportive environment where female colleagues can share knowledge and experiences.
“The forum has three objectives; promoting role models for women in Highways England, creating the right culture in order to retain a diverse workforce, and providing a network of support for women within the organisation.
“Charged with delivering the largest roads investment in a generation, I am committed to developing our workforce to meet new challenges by encouraging greater diversity and inclusion, driving innovation and creating a work environment that ensures we can recruit and retain the best talent that is available to the industry. We can only be successful when we make the very best use of all the talent that is available to us and ensure that we make our jobs attractive to everyone.
“Highways England has a commitment to create an environment where all people can reach their potential, which is why, on International Women’s Day, I support the pledge to #BeBoldForChange.”
