Sheryl Miller

UN UK Women Delegate, Keynote Speaker, Author, Trainer & Consultant

Sheryl Miller is a Chartered Accountant by background. She qualified with EY and worked in a variety of strategic finance roles before her interest in unlocking performance led to her moving into organisational change management, eventually leading large-scale global transformation projects and programmes in household names such as National Grid and Tesco.

In 2018 she wrote the book, ‘Smashing Stereotypes: How To Get Ahead When You’re The Only _____ In The Room'. This process led to extensive research into the science of individual performance in the workplace, particularly where a person is from an historically marginalised or under-represented background.

She now delivers Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) speaking, staff network and ERG leader training, consultancy and C-suite facilitation for businesses seeking fresh perspectives on how to create the right environments for high performance. She also holds a number of Non Executive Director roles for organisations including Birmingham’s Symphony Hall.

In 2023 she was accepted into the UN UK Women delegation for the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).

Sheryl has moderated panels and delivered in-person and virtual IWD talks and Q&A sessions in the past, focusing on career empowerment strategies, how to call out bias and how to get women into leadership.

With this year's theme of Inspire Inclusion, Sheryl's talks will anchor authenticity and intersectionality, addressing two specific questions:

1) How can women confidently and authentically show up as themselves when the traits associated with leadership appear to be at odds with 'femininity'?

2) How can women work together to create workplaces where ALL women can be accepted as their authentic selves regardless of background - faith, ethnicity, age, marital status, child-free, LGBTQIA+, disability?
