Event:BLOG FOR THE WOMEN WHO HUNGER
About:In Africa, 8 out of 10 farmers are women. 1 out of 3 families have women as the sole breadwinners. And yet women, particularly in developing nations, enjoy little social rewards. World Food Programme has long understood that women are essential in the fight against hunger. They not only cook the food, but grow it too. Research shows that eliminating hunger starts when a woman is pregnant. pp On March 8, let us blog about the difficulties these women face, and encourage everyone to support 1 women in 1 developing nation for 1 year.

Event:200 THOUSAND FOR 200 MILLION
About:As 2010 International Women’s Day approaches with the theme, ‘Equal Rights, Equal Opportunity’ Pathfinder International believes a crucial aspect of improving women’s lives is missing in the current dialogue: reproductive health. An astounding 200 million women around the world want, but lack access to contraceptives. Pathfinder wants to ensure every woman can exercise that right. That is why Pathfinder is launching a unique challenge in the week leading up to International Women’s Day 2010: 200 Thousand for 200 Million. On Pathfinder’s microsite, www.Girl2Woman.org, are six videos showcasing the importance of reproductive health care throughout life. Every time a video is shared through www.Girl2Woman.org, a generous donor is giving $1 to improve reproductive health services around the world. The goal is to achieve 200,000 shares of the videos by International Women’s Day so that we can raise critical awareness about the more than 200 million women in need of modern contraceptives. We invite everyone interested in supporting to share the videos through the site, post Girl2Woman.org on Facebook or their website, and to help get the word out! For more information about the challenge, please visit www.pathfind.org.
