| Event: | FILM: BEYOND BELIEF BY BETH MURPHY AND PRINCIPLE PICTURES |
| About: | The film features Susan Retik and Patti Quigley, two ordinary “soccer moms” living in the affluent suburbs of Boston until tragedy strikes. Rather than turning inwards, grief compels these women to focus on the country where the terrorists who took their husbands’ lives were trained: Afghanistan. Over the course of two years, as they cope with loss and struggle to raise their families as single mothers, these extraordinary women dedicate themselves to empowering Afghan widows whose lives have been ravaged by decades of war, poverty and oppression – factors they consider to be the root causes of terrorism. From the ruins of the World Trade Center to those of Kabul and back, theirs is a journey of personal strength and international reconciliation, and a testament to the vision that peace can be forged… one woman at a time. |

| Event: | INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY: IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE PEOPLE OF IRAN |
| About: | Join RAHA Iranian Women's Collective for a special community celebration of 100 years of International Women's Day!
*A group of Iranian feminists have put out a Call for Solidarity to organize initiatives throughout March around the world in support of their demand to end state-led violence and repression, as well as the immediate release of all political detainees in Iran.***
In light of this call, we invite you to a screening of two short documentaries of the historic 1979 women's day march in Tehran that drew women from around the world, and of the 2006 Million Signature Campaign which mobilized women across Iran to gather signatures in support of ending discriminatory laws against women. The screenings will be followed by a roundtable discussion amongst activists and participants from throughout NYC. Plus cake!
Now more than ever, it is time to build bridges across communities - our celebration will gather folks from across the city to recognize and celebrate of one hundred years of strength, solidarity, and struggle.
We hope you can add your voice to this celebration!
In solidarity,
RAHA
