Bold, vibrant colors symbolize the energy and diversity of women in India
Creatives play an important role in elevating International Women's Day (IWD) through helping amplify awareness raising. Via their creative contributions, audiences worldwide are engaged through collective action to help forge gender equality.
Each year the IWD Lettering Challenge, in association with the global Typism community, calls for creative designs that support an annual IWD focus and showcase the impressive talent of creators.
Here, we shine a spotlight on one such creative, Ashok Giri, and showcase their IWD 2025 #AccelerationAction design.
Ashok Giri is part of #Typism100, a directory that helps lettering artists attract new clients through showcasing their skills to a wider audience.
Expressing vibrancy and inclusion through art
International Women’s Day holds a special place in Ashok's heart, expressed through these two Accelerate Action designs.
The gold in the first design reflects the value and potential of women, while the black and grey tones convey strength and resilience.
"The bold, vibrant colours in the second design symbolise the energy and diversity of India - a country rich in culture, traditions, and resilience. Just like the variety in colors, India is home to countless stories of women, each unique yet united in their strength and determination. These elements work together to represent both the challenges women face and the determination needed to overcome them. This design is my way of highlighting the importance of taking meaningful steps toward equality and empowerment, reminding us all of the power of collective action," explains Ashok.
Recognizing women's struggles

For Ashok, the IWD campaign theme #AccelerateAction is a deeply personal call to recognise the struggles many women in India still face - being denied education, opportunities, and even respect.
"It’s heartbreaking that in a country so rich in culture, many women are still fighting for basic equality. This always reminds me of the power we hold to make a difference - to support and stand beside women as they break barriers. It’s about creating a world where every woman is valued, celebrated, and given the chance to thrive. Together, we all can turn hope into reality," comments Ashok.
Celebrating courage and strength
Ashok sees International Women’s Day as a day of reflection and hope. Ashok explains how IWD never fails to remind of the countless women in India who fight silent battles every day - against inequality, lack of opportunity, and deeply ingrained biases.
"It’s heartbreaking to think of their struggles, but it also fills me with admiration for their resilience and strength. This day is a chance to honor their stories, celebrate their courage, and remind ourselves of the change we can bring. It’s personal because I believe every woman deserves to dream, to achieve, and to live a life of dignity and respect. It’s about standing together to create a world where these dreams are no longer a privilege but a right," adds Ashok.
