Using creative design to help raise awareness and inspire conversation about gender equality
Based in Budapest in Hungary, Laura Sásdi is a highly talented graphic designer, illustrator, and surface pattern designer.
Her work is simply fabulous.
Laura created an exciting IWD Typism Lettering Challenge submission [pictured above], using flowing forms and a colorful selection.
"The theme this year is Give To Gain, a message I can 100% agree with," says Laura.
Laura's design helps raise awareness and inspires conversation about gender equality.
"I fell in love with lettering a few years ago, and I try to incorporate it as much as possible into the projects I create. I also value my time as an art teacher. It taught me better communication, assertiveness and how to give and receive valuable feedback," explains Laura.
A highly talented creative
Laura studied graphic design in Budapest and started freelancing after graduation. As a graphic designer, she has worked with various Hungarian publishing houses as a layout designer and typesetter. She works digitally, using vector graphics and handmade textures.
She creates a huge range of designs, such as illustrations for children’s books, games, and maps.
Her covers for publishers and authors are impressive, plus she creates excellent City guides, culinary regions, fantasy worlds, and illustrated maps. She created an illustrated map for Westeros (a fantasy kingdom based mostly on medieval England and Europe), the world of Game of Thrones TV-series, and A Song of Ice and Fire books.
Her surface pattern licensing and custom design work is also very impressive.
Her work has been featured in many exhibitions, including Ilustrofest/Belgrade Fortress, Common Space/Kunsthalle Budapest, Budapest Illustration Festival, Golden Drawing Pin Exhibition, and a solo exhibition at the Trafik Kör Gallery.
Laura has taught at the Metropolitan University Budapest and also the Corvin Art School.
