AECOM supports International Women's Day

AECOM is proud to join the global celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8 - a day to recognize the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women. They also acknowledge their employees around the world who are positively impacting lives and helping to transform the global and local communities in which we live and work.

AECOM's women professionals are a living portrait of diversity. To mark International Women's Day this year, AECOM employees all over the world will be sharing ideas, hosting local events and recognizing the women who inspire them every day. Hear from women at AECOM

Shevira, an AECOM associate in South Africa, manages a team of six and is a highly motivated individual. "I enjoy learning what motivates others, encouraging them and helping them perform at their highest levels. My success in my current role is an indicator of my commitment to excellence and my understanding of what it takes to be successful. I have embraced the opportunities that AECOM has given me to enhance my expertise and simultaneously achieve the company’s longer term goals and objectives, and I will certainly continue to add value to the organization."

Cynthia, leader of AECOM's mission support operations, is responsible for managing multiple manned and unmanned aircraft maintenance and modification programs throughout the United States for the Department of Defense. What drives Cynthia is having the opportunity to help the government achieve its mission-readiness goals alongside a group of very engaged colleagues.

Krystel, as a Part II architectural designer, has worked on conceptual designs through to construction, designing in collaboration with key influential architects. Having worked on large stadia projects as a graduate has helped her to develop her skills in a multidisciplinary environment. "AECOM has given me the opportunity to work alongside highly skilled professionals who have helped me to develop as a designer. Working side by side with my peers and mentors has taught me about the core values AECOM adheres to: professionalism, respect, challenges and diversity. My most exciting project has been working on a 40,000-seat stadium in the Middle East; it was delivered in BIM and by far has been the most challenging and inquisitive project to date. Being part of AECOM gives me the sense of community and friendship. I enjoy being part of the dynamic discovery that AECOM takes on a daily basis."

Laura joined AECOM after graduating from the University of Sheffield. "I was keen to work for a multidisciplinary architecture practice and the size and scope of AECOM’s projects and their use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) drew me to the company. From day one, my line manager and mentor have involved me in projects and training which have helped me to develop existing skills and learn a variety of new ones ... The AECOM graduate scheme has given me the opportunity to meet graduates from offices all over the UK & Ireland, and to hear about the different business lines within AECOM and the projects which are taking place across the globe. What has struck me about AECOM is how supportive they are in making your career with them what you want it to be."

Marianna joined as a graduate engineer within AECOM's Strategic Highways team. "Working closely with experienced people helped me adjust faster and obtain an in-depth knowledge of the procedures and processes adopted.The GDP provides a great opportunity to network with other graduates from various business lines across the UK. Seeking ways in which to develop professionally and improve on inherent attributes is the key to a progressive career in engineering."

Monica joined AECOM's Ground Engineering team in Glasgow and has worked on a variety of projects. "I enjoy site work, as I like to see projects in context and how data is collected for project planning and design - from slope inspections to ground investigation supervision ... AECOM provides a strong foundation to build essential skills and further my career in the industry."
