Creating a winning culture through diversity, inclusion, and equity

Brian McManus, CEO, Lighthouse

 IWD 2021

At Lighthouse, we #ChooseToChallenge by continuing our commitment to foster a culture that supports diversity, inclusion, and equity. After a series of traumatic events in 2020, from the COVID-19 outbreak to confronting the harsh realities of racism and other inequalities, we doubled down on our efforts to create open and honest dialogue about our differences. I have long believed in celebrating differences, and that differences create a richness of experiences that make teams stronger. At Lighthouse, our employee-wide discussions were primarily spearheaded by our fearless women leaders and included conversations around race, gender identity, unconscious bias, and what it means to truly be an ally.

I am proud of what we’ve accomplished in our choice to challenge inequality and exclusion, creating opportunities in our industry for the under-represented through partnerships, continuing to work towards a more diverse employee base, and supporting initiatives to give back to underserved communities – including offering volunteer time off benefits to our employees. We will continue to look inward for constant improvement on our personal and collective journeys.

Change happens through a lot of small, incremental moves, and we are making those here at Lighthouse. Many of these moves are organic, conceived of, and driven by our employees, and supported by leadership. These moves underscore the quality of our team and culture.

Together, we are choosing to change – and challenge – the little corners of the world we occupy and support change for the better everywhere.
