A gap exists between the number of leadership training and cultural exchange opportunities offered to girls in the Global Minority (Global North) and those in the Global Majority (Global South). Global Girl Project fills the gap by offering high-quality innovative leadership and community development programmes to marginalised girls from the Global Majority.

From 2015 to 2020, we ran annual exchange programmes with small groups of girls, taking them through a curriculum that taught them how to develop, plan and independently implement sustainable and impactful projects upon their return home. We recorded a 100% success rate of girls creating and running their initiatives.

As we celebrate 10 years of impact in 2025, we are relaunching this programme as the Global Girl Leadership Academy, a three-month, in-depth leadership training on offer to graduates from our Global Girl Leadership Initiative who are 15 years and older. We will be running our annual fundraiser to raise funding for the programme’s pilot. The programme will be run by our programme partners in each of the selected locations.

Global Girls Run the World (GGRTW) is Global Girl Project’s annual fundraiser. To mark Women’s History Month, this March 2025, we will encourage our supporters around the world to help us raise £25,000 for the Global Girl Leadership Academy to unlock the programme in five countries including Haiti, Uganda, South Africa, and Afghanistan.

The £25,000 we raise will go towards training 70 girl leaders in 2025 and 2026.

Each girl will receive:
-a three-month curated training on designing and implementing impactful, long-term social impact
projects.
-access to project grants to set up and run initiatives in their community.
-Ongoing support for their initiative.

The campaign will take the form of a "Funding Olympics," where donors and fundraisers can sign up under their chosen country to compete in raising funds to support girls.

The goal is to raise £25,000, which will be divided into £3,500 increments - the cost of launching the programme in each location. For every £3,500 raised during the campaign, a new location will be unlocked, allowing more groups of girls to access the programme!
