Finding Our Thrive

Catherine Moy, Chief People Officer, BDO USA, LLP

 IWD 2022

The past two years have introduced lasting challenges for women worldwide. Some have left the workforce, while others have faced an increasingly difficult balancing act. While the impacts have been vast, each situation is unique, and each person needs different things to help them thrive.

At BDO, we prioritize meeting our people where they are in their career journeys and ensuring they have the resources and support needed to reach their definition of success. We do this because we know that cultivating an inclusive environment makes our firm stronger. While we’re proud of our progress, we know that there is still much work to be done to #BreaktheBias.

One way we can help our women – and all our professionals – succeed is by giving them more flexibility in how they manage their professional and personal priorities. We’ve evolved our flexible work strategy to focus on the outcomes of our work versus where and when work is accomplished. This has allowed our professionals to reimagine how their work is done and improve their work+life fit.

While firmwide programs like BDO Flex are critical, the grassroots effort of our women’s inclusion strategy continues to fuel the advancement of BDO’s women professionals. This group allows our people to intentionally connect, celebrate one another, speak candidly and share advice.

Through these efforts and more, we are living by our core purpose – helping people thrive every day – and working toward a more diverse, equitable and inclusive future. This is how BDO is finding ways to #BreakTheBias.
