We Help Advance Women’s Health Every Day
Judi Seltz, Executive Vice President & CHRO, Labcorp
IWD 2022
At Labcorp, our mission to improve health and improve lives. This includes a commitment to women’s health and wellness, both in the communities we serve and within our own organization. As a leader in women’s health around the world, this year’s International Women’s Day theme of #BreakTheBias resonates at Labcorp, and I am proud to share some of our work in this area.
Labcorp is a leading global life sciences company that provides vital information to help doctors, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, researchers and patients make clear and confident decisions. We do this through our wide-ranging drug development capabilities, specialty testing services, and extensive diagnostics and genetics expertise.
We help advance women’s health every day. In 2021, Labcorp acquired Ovia Health, a digital health platform used by millions of women seeking information and support with family planning, pregnancy and parenting. It’s a new way for Labcorp to help women and their healthcare providers make informed decisions. We have a long history of supporting OB-GYNs and primary care doctors by providing essential testing, screening, educational support and clinical trial options for women, including expectant mothers.
Our commitment to women is strong within our company as well. Our strategic diversity and inclusion framework calls for empowering inclusive leadership, building and sustaining a diverse talent pipeline and creating an environment for engagement across our company and our communities. Our global people leaders completed unconscious bias training in the last year, providing a forum to engage in dialogue about all areas of bias affecting both women and other underrepresented groups—an important step forward to #BreakTheBias.
At Labcorp globally, women make up 75% of all entry-level positions, 71% of our total employee population and 59% of management positions. Through leadership development programs for women and targeted mentoring programs, we support career growth and provide role models for female professionals. In 2021, we held our first Power of Women virtual event. The half-day event included two female members of Labcorp’s board of directors and focused on the business environment, making an impact and enhancing cross-company connections.
Our women’s employee resource group Women’s Empowerment Network has 25 chapters around the world. It provides an important forum for women to connect and provide input to senior leadership as we progress on our diversity and inclusion journey. With these areas of focus, we aspire to sustain an environment where women thrive and advance in our company.
There’s clearly more to be done to #BreakTheBias when it comes to women’s healthcare and women’s opportunity in the workplace. I am proud to help lead the way in a company with a genuine commitment to women and to join other leaders around the world as we collaborate to #BreakTheBias.
