In recognition of International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8, 2025, Timmins & Area Women in Crisis (TAWC) and Ellevive are proud to continue the tradition of distributing chocolate roses throughout the community on Friday, March 7, 2025.

This campaign not only celebrates the strength, resilience, and achievements of women but also raises awareness about gender-based violence and the ongoing fight for equity. The chocolate rose is a symbolic gesture inspired by the “Bread and Roses” movement, which advocated for economic security and a better quality of life for women.

Staff and volunteers will be delivering chocolate roses at key locations across the region, wearing purple scarves—the international colour of IWD—to symbolize the movement to end violence against women and promote gender equality.
