OUTERMOST COMMUNITY RADIO CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
- 6AM – Midnight
PROVINCETOWN, January 27 2025: At a time when women and girls’ bodily autonomy has been stripped across the country, when protections for immigrants, BIPOC and transgender people are being eroded, 20 DJs will come together to celebrate the resiliency, sovereignty and diversity of women’s voices.
At Outermost Community Radio we will share music and stories that entertain and aim to “Accelerate Action”, which is this year’s theme for the national holiday.
In 2025 our lineup includes music across all genres. 20 DJs bring you programs including: “Mums the Word: Mothers Throughout History” (an 8th grader’s homage to mothers), “Local Women and the Songs That Inspire Us”, “Six The Musical: The Wives of Henry VIII”, “Dyke-ons from the 20th and 21st Century!”, “Stories, Poems, and Music on Womanhood” , “La Boheme”, “Opera Betty”, “Debra Greenblatt & Stephanie Pieck on Braille Music”, “Hope in Action”, “Trailblazing Women in Irish History”, “Women of Slack Tide Sounds”, “Elinor Lipman’s New Book”, and “Namaste à Go-Go”.
The day kicks off with classic oldies, but goodies, from women’s groups we all know and love.
At a time when federal funding for stations like WOMR is threatened, it’s important we unite and seize the day.
Our president has declared journalists “enemies of the people”, defied medical experts in declaring by executive order that the federal government will only recognize the gender binary, and ended diversity and inclusion initiatives impacting businesses and schools. ICE agents can now enter schools, hospitals and churches. In response, WOMR’s IWD 2025 program will underscore the talents and contributions to music and culture by
women including immigrants, people of color, and LGBTQI community.
