Let's create one powerful change for Wairarapa Women/Wāhine!

Join us in celebrating International Women’s Day 2025 in Wairarapa - a day dedicated to empowering and uplifting women across industries, communities, and backgrounds. This event will bring together leaders, changemakers, and everyday champions from across the region to engage in inspiring discussions, networking, and community-driven solutions.

Theme: Creating one powerful change: #AccelerateAction for Women/Wāhine in the Wairarapa

The Hui acknowledges the mana of the Wāhine of the Wairarapa and asks one question:

“If we could create one powerful change for women in the Wairarapa—one that truly lifts gender equality, embraces Tangata Whenua, celebrates inclusivity, and shines a light on real solutions—what would it be? How can we work together to make it a reality?”

On March 8th, in honor of International Women’s Day (IWD), Let's stand up and stand together. Collectively, as wāhine of the Wairarapa, we can accelerate action. IWD 2025 is centred around the theme: "For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment."
This theme commemorates the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a landmark commitment to advancing gender equality. It calls for action to unlock equal rights, power, and opportunities for all women and girls, envisioning a feminist future where no one is left behind. See: history of IWD and unwomen.org.

This Hui is a call from The Women’s Centre to put Women at the Centre. What can us wāhine of the Wairarapa do to be the change the world needs today?

We've got to engage the might of all wāhine to arrive at the solutions and next steps.  

We're expecting people to arrive, prepared to roll up their sleeves and have hard hitting conversations about what is needed.  

The outcome of the Hui will be to set a plan of strategic action for 2025

Format/Approach: We have set out the day to provide an opportunity for all attendees to participate together in generating ideas, setting priorities and considering implementation issues for delivering on powerful changes for women in Wairarapa. The collaborative event format will allow you to share ideas you are most passionate about, while you are prepared to convene a discussion.
