Women’s health issues are less well known, less well diagnosed and women are listened to by their doctors less than men. Fewer clinical trials focus on women. Women are prescribed less pain medication than men.
Why and how can we shift to reach a more equal health system in UK society?
A study from Manual, a wellbeing platform for men, has found the UK has the largest female health gap among G20 countries and the 12th largest globally, despite men globally usually having worse health than women.
Manual says “Female health gaps are proof that patriarchy can afford men better healthcare. Women are less studied, misdiagnosed, and taken less seriously by the health system.”
In enterprise, female led businesses receive only 2% of VC funding in the UK, so the problem is not only what solutions are being developed, but who is able to develop them.
For International Women’s Day, we will be creating an informative and provocative event to challenge health innovators and investors to ensure that we narrow the women’s health gap and increase opportunities to invest in health equity for women.
We will announce our speakers and the agenda soon!
