In celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, Tokyo College’s Gender, Sexuality and Identity collaborative research group is hosting two online research seminars about Women’s Health in the Global South.

In this event series, we embrace a broad definition of “health” that encompasses physical health, mental health, bioethics, medical practices, community health initiatives, healing practices, and more.

We are also bringing together speakers from various countries and professional backgrounds—including academics, community organizers, medical practitioners, and filmmakers—to share their work, experiences, and aspirations.

Through these rich, cross-disciplinary conversations, we aim to foster a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities shaping women’s health across the Global South.

Speakers:

Dr. Skye R Tinevimbo Chirape (Researcher, The Hub for Decolonial Feminist Psychologies in Africa, UCT)

Justina A. Alechana (MPhil Midwifery, BSc Midwifery, RM College of Nursing & Midwifery- Nalerigu Ghana)

Date & Time: Thursday, March 6th, 2024 17:00-18:00 (Japan Standard Time)

Location: Online Zoom meeting (Link will be sent after registration)
