Accelerate Action, the theme for IWD 2025, resonates profoundly with Connect 2 Cleanrooms Ltd as we re-launch our brand and re-establish our position as a forward thinking SME.

We have a proud heritage of supporting and empowering women, which began with the inimitable influence of Lizzie Govier, the wife of the company’s founder, who was pivotal in laying the foundations for the business we are today.

For us, as we start on the next stage of our journey, the empowerment of women, abolition of unconscious bias and delivery of equality of opportunity, continue to be fundamental goals.

Accelerate Action is a theme that embodies everything we are striving to achieve.

We are proud to have successful, influential and forward-thinking women within our business who are striving every day to deliver excellence in leadership, operational management, business support, sales, and customer service. Whilst we can look to the work being delivered by multi-national corporations and learn from their experiences and successes, as an SME we focus on taking small steps every day to engender an inclusive, diverse and empowered workplace culture for our current and future female team members. With this, we are confident we can inspire profound and sustained change not only within our local community but across our industry sector.

To us, Accelerate Action is not just about female-oriented events on March 8th. It is about building our legacy and creating sustained change to support and empower women in our workplace. For this reason, we are asking everyone in the business to reflect on the girls and women they know, recognising the support and strength they bring into their own personal and professional lives. And as we share these stories within the business, for the first time this year, we want to include an external commitment, which is why we feel irrevocably compelled to issue our first company statement in support of IWD 2025.

We have always invested heavily in the continued professional development of our team, but this year we want to build on this further and complement our existing learning and education strategy with the introduction of company circles. We are confident this will be a proactive initiative to encourage, embolden and educate our team, ensuring we foster a culture of respect, appreciation and gratitude, celebrating the strength and depth our differences can bring. Whilst there will, of course, be company circles with a female focus, we want this to be an opportunity to make a difference to every sector of our workforce. We are therefore widening the scope to ensure we are supporting every diverse group in ways that meet their individual needs – whether this is through mentoring and championing relationships, behavioural change, confidence building or technical skills development. By doing this, we hope to create a culture where inclusivity and diversity are a natural consequence of everyday action.

We equally recognise that an internal focus is no longer sufficient, if we are to truly influence the future strength, diversity and inclusivity of our team.

We want to extend our reach into our local communities and actively develop strategies that support under-represented groups, particularly within STEM industries. We are reaching out to local schools and colleges to create work experience and placement opportunities within our industry – in roles that may be disregarded or misunderstood by many young girls. We hope that this will give our future female generations the ambition, confidence and experience to make their own mark on the world.

We’ve also considered the call to action for IWD 2025, which is to support charities that empower female communities. In March, we begin a year of fundraising that will support women through a broad range of good causes, both directly and indirectly, ensuring our reach extends beyond our own walls and our influence leaves a lasting impact on our local community. We are proud that our team – both men and women – will come together to support the very many women and girls across our local region who are facing difficult situations, tough decision-making, and unnecessary hardship.
