Remember when McDonald's flipped the golden arches for IWD?

 March 08, 2018

"You may notice something a little different about our hallmark Golden Arches today," said Wendy Lewis, Global Chief Diversity Officer and Vice President of Global Community Engagement for McDonald’s Corporation when, for the first time in history, the iconic golder arches were flipped from an "M" to a "W" to honor International Women's Day.

"In celebration of women everywhere, and for the first time in our brand history, we flipped our iconic arches for International Women’s Day on March 8 in honor of the extraordinary accomplishments of women everywhere and especially in our restaurants."

Celebrating women everywhere on the journey to progress

For International Women’s Day, McDonald's flipped their Golden Arches to celebrate the women who have chosen McDonald’s to be a part of their story.

McDonald's proudly shared the story of their very own Patricia Williams, who was determined to show her daughters the value of hard work.

30 years later, she and her daughters are the owners of 18 McDonald's restaurants.

The video has a great story, one so many women can relate to

Without women, there would be no McDonald's

A proud supporter of International Women's Day, McDonald's is honored to be chosen by millions of women who have made them part of their stories.

This significant gesture by McDonald's represents a huge commitment and celebrates the strength and tenacity of women everywhere.

According to McDonald's, the majorityof its U.S. employees are female, with approximately six out of 10 of restaurant managers being women, and they have one of the largest supplier diversity programs designed to support their global operations.
