Arsenal celebrated women players and supported the call to #ChooseToChallenge

To mark International Women’s Day, Arsenal Football Club celebrated its women who have broken barriers and forged paths for others to follow. The Club understands that its women’s players are role models for many people and so the club continues to actively works to champion their women.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Arsenal Women and leaders from Rwanda came together to #ChooseToChallenge by call on communties to challenge stereotypes and lead the way for the next generation. Arsenal produced a video highlighting the progress for women made in society so far, and what is still left to achieve.

Arsenal's Anna Patten and Malin Gut ran a live skills session supported by Visit Rwanda to encourage women and girls to get involved in sport, and to call for gender equality as the world celebrated International Women's Day.

Official Partner of Arsenal Women, Mastercard provided some of Arsenal's academy stars with a Priceless Moment for International Women's Day as ArsenalWomen idols Jordan Nobbs, Vivianne Miedema and Lisa Evans surprised academy players with exciting goodies.

Exploring and discussing health and aspirations

In addition to marking International Women’s Day across Arsenal's social media channels and with Club partners, girls from Arsenal's Premier League Communities and London Marathon programme took part in an International Women's Day workshop with the Save the Children Coaching For Life Project Manager to discuss the benefits of sport on mental health as well as aspirations for the future.

Inspiring women and girls

"May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them. To our challenge champions. We salute you" tweeted Arsenal Women.

Arsenal also participated in community events to inspire and support young women and girls locally in north London. 

Lydia Williams joined a primary school group for an International Women’s Day Q&A, while Leah Williamson joined a Premier League Kicks Q&A with girls aged 11-16.
