Findex helped #EmbraceEquity via IWD giving campaign to support indigenous girls' education
October 26, 2023
International Women's Day (IWD) provides an important opportunity for fundraising.
Across the world, IWD giving supports female-focused charities through helping raise their visibility, amplifying their awareness raising efforts, and generating key funding to support their work.
In Australasia, one company that successfully participated in an IWD giving campaign to support the education of indigenous girls and young women was Findex - a leading provider of integrated financial advisory and accounting services. With people represented in 100 locations across Australia and New Zealand, Findex leverages its vast network to make a real impact for local communities. For Findex's people, giving back isn't just a once off initiative. It's embedded in the company's DNA, and is reflected in its core purpose.
Forging a positive legacy for future generations
Committed to a culture of giving, Findex supported the Stars Foundation via an impactful IWD fundraising campaign. The campaign helped created awareness, elevate a focus on the Foundation's work, and generate donations.
Stars Foundation was established in 2015 to offer a holistic program that supports indigenous girls and young women to attend and remain engaged at school, complete Year 12, and move into work or further study. Stars Foundation provides holistic mentoring support to one of the most at-risk groups in Australia - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and young women with the aim of improving health and education outcomes for this cohort. Supporting around 2,500 girls in 37 partner schools, Stars Foundation provides long-term support in a culturally safe environment.
"Educating and empowering girls has a powerful ripple effect, improving outcomes not only for the girls themselves but also their children, families and communities. Investing in the education of Indigenous girls and young women leaves a positive legacy for generations to come," said Findex.
All donations made via Findex's IWD giving campaign were received directly by The Stars Foundation. For Findex employees donating through the company's Workplace Giving program, donations were matched by the Findex Community Fund, doubling the impact.
Celebrating inspirational women at Findex
Beyond the impactful fundraising campaign, IWD also saw Findex celebrate its people and the diverse backgrounds of its teams. Findex spotlighted not only its inspirational women but also its allies and inclusion advocates, who are incredibly important for the advancement of women in its communities.
"On International Women's Day we acknowledge that we are on a journey to creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce. By taking steps to progress and acknowledging the work that needs to be done to achieve gender parity and empower women and girls worldwide, we are supporting organizations that work towards gender equality. Findex thank not only our inspirational women, but also our allies and inclusion advocates, who are incredibly important for the advancement of women in our communities," said the company.
Making a real impact in local communities
Findex coordinated its fundraising campaign through its Findex Community Fund, a registered charity launched in 2018 that aims to address the limitations for rural and regional communities in Australia and New Zealand.
With Findex offices widely dispersed across Australia and New Zealand, connecting and giving back to local communities reinforces Findex's values. Through the Findex Community Fund, the company is committed to making an impact in three defined areas:
- Health and Wellbeing - Improving the lives and wellbeing of patients and their carers
- Learning and Education - Extending the learning of young and disadvantaged people to help them achieve their potential
- Community Resilience - Supporting communities and those vulnerable to empower people and create sustainable communities
Led by a vision to create equal access to opportunity for people isolated by location or circumstance, the Findex Community Fund supports programs which are regionally relevant, nationally impactful and globally scalable. It is through Findex's business culture that the company helps create real impact in communities. Findex's people play a role in identifying the need in communities, so that the company can provide support to key organizations. In particular, Findex's Community Fund connects with and supports charities like Stars Foundation delivering programs within the Fund's focus areas inspiring hope and having a real impact in local communities.
