Supporting the work of gender equality related nonprofits, on IWD and beyond, is key
International Women's Day (IWD) provides a powerful opportunity to support gender equality related nonprofits and help elevate their visibility.
Through direct work and campaigning, these organizations and their causes actively transform the lives of women and girls.

Donating to nonprofits, both financially and in-kind, helps uplift communities and shows solidarity in forging gender equality.
In 2025, many organizations across the world marked IWD through helping fundraise for impactful nonpropfits.
Creating pathways to safe employment

Colleagues at UK-based recruitment consultancy Allen Lane raised money for IWD Giving member, Nomi Network, which creates pathways to safe and sustainable employment for women and girls. Envisaging a world where every woman can know her full potential, Nomi Network's mission is to end human trafficking by creating pathways to safe employment, empowering women and girls to break cycles of slavery in their families and communities.
In response to the laudable efforts of its employees, Allen Lane said: "A very big thank you to our incredible team for your support and contribution on International Women's Day. We are incredibly proud to have raised over £300 for our chosen charity - Nomi Network - the charity on a mission to end human trafficking."
"Let's take a minute to recognise and applaud the women whose dedication enriches our communities and strengthens the fabric of our society. As a recruitment agency dedicated to public sector, charity and not-for-profit organisations, we are proud to honour the incredible women who lead, innovate, and inspire in these vital areas of our community. In the theme of Accelerate Action, consider how we can accelerate the growth and success of women in our workplaces and communities. Whether it's through mentorship, advocacy, or creating opportunities for women to lead, every action counts towards building a more equitable world," added Allen Lane.
The power to change the future

"This IWD, our team came together and prepared over 140 essential item kits to donate to the Women's Centre of Calgary. Together, we have the power to change the future," said BlueEarth Renewables, a company in Calgary, Canada that helps transition organizations to a lower carbon future.
The Women’s Centre of Calgary works with a unique peer model, where women are recognized as the experts in their own lives, and volunteers work as women helping other women. The nonprofit offers various programs and workshops, basic needs assistance, peer support, and an informal social space where women can socialize and build long-lasting community. Women can also learn about social issues and work for social change through its Work for Change program.
Breaking barriers and empowering women

International Women's Day saw 18 companies gather to pledge their support for Black Country Women's Aid and accelerate action against domestic abuse, sexual violence, and modern slavery.
"Over £10,000 raised for IWD 2025! Thank you to everyone who supported our International Women's Day events this March. Whether you pledged, danced, donated, or offered services, we couldn't have done it without you. Thank you for helping us Accelerate Action this IWD," said Black Country Women's Aid.
No wonder Black Country Women's Aid makes such a good choice for charitable giving. Not only is their work impactful, but their many days of ongoing IWD activity are very inclusive, thought-provoking, and highly impressive.

Working to end violence against women and girls

Meanwhile at Cricket Wales, Women's & Girls' Development Officer Rebecca Thomas and her colleagues took on the challenge of scaling the highest peak in South Wales in the name of a gender equality.
"Huge thank you to everyone who walked up Pen-y-fan, supported and donated to Welsh Women's Aid. We even exceeded our target and raised £600 on IWD. Accelerate Action," commented Rebecca.
Welsh Women's Aid is a national charity working to end violence against women and girls in all its forms. It is a federation of specialist organisations in Wales that provide lifesaving services to survivors of violence and abuse and deliver a range of innovative preventative services in local communities. The charity's success is founded on making sure the experiences and needs of survivors are central to all that it does.
The fundraising efforts of Rebecca and her colleagues continues into IWD 2026 when, on Sunday 8th March, they will take on another physical challenge by walking the Welsh coastal path.
Raising funds and donating clothing
Another impressive IWD GIVING campaign saw non-profit organization Solina Centre for International Development & Research (SCIDaR) in Nigeria raise funds and donate clothing.
"At SCIDaR, gender equity is not an aspiration, it is a lived reality. We do not wait for change; we drive it. This year’s International Women’s Day theme, Accelerate Action, calls for bold, immediate, and decisive steps to break down the barriers that persist from gender-based violence to systemic inequality. True transformation happens when we act with urgency, purpose, and unwavering commitment. As architects of change, we are shaping a future where gender equity is deeply embedded in our culture, our programs, and the very fabric of society," said SCIDaR.
SCIDaR supports gender equity by:
- Embedding gender equity into every program, ensuring women and girls are not just beneficiaries but decision-makers.
- Strengthening policies and interventions that address gender based violence, economic disparities, and access to essential health services.
- Creating pathways for mentorship and leadership, equipping women, within SCIDaR and beyond, with the tools to lead, thrive, and inspire.
"The brilliance of SCIDaR’s women transcends ethnic, geographic, and generational boundaries. They are the leaders, pioneers, and changemakers turning bold visions into enduring realities. To every woman in SCIDaR, your work is transformational, your leadership is powerful, and your impact is unstoppable," added SCIDaR.
