Each year the IWD Lettering Challenge, in association with the global Typism community, calls for creative designs that support an annual IWD focus and showcase the impressive talent of creators.
Here, we shine a spotlight on one such creative, Alyx, and showcase their IWD 2026 Give to Gain design.
International recognition for calligraphy
Alyx is a French artist from Île-de-France with a deep passion for drawing, especially lettering.
In 2024, Alyx's work was featured in Typism Book 10, earning Alyx much deserved international recognition for calligraphy.
Improving skills through sketching
From an early age, Alyx sketched robots and manga, gradually improving creative skills.
Encouraged by loved ones and friends to pursue creative passions, Alyx became very dedicated to improving creative skills and technique.
Discovering a love for graffiti
In 2009, while studying art, Alyx discovered a love for graffiti.
A teacher, a calligrapher themselves, was impressed by Alyx's calligraphy skills so became a mentor and helped Alyx refine the craft.
Alyx later developed a unique fusion of calligraphy and graffiti, known as calligraffiti.
Inspired by diverse cultures
Driven by a thirst for inspiration and adventure, Alyx left everything behind to travel across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia.
Immersed in diverse cultures, these journeys deeply influenced Alyx's artistic expression.
