Hon Fatoumatta Njai

One of three elected female MPs sharing stories of successful campaigns

Fatoumatta is one of three elected female MPs in  The Gambia parliament out of 58 and one out of 22  at the west African  Regional  Parliament. Fatoumatta is ready to share her  experiences and how to successfully win an elections. She is willing to share her journey as an aspiring partly leader of the founding party of independence in The Gambia, a country   male dominated  with a highly patriarchic society . With these challenges Fatoumatta had still succeeded in winning the hearts and minds of the party members  across the nation.  

Fatoumatta has since established a foundation where she supports the youth, the women and the most vulnerable. She sponsors girls to pursue higher and vocational training . Fatoumatta also assists market women  preventing them from getting goods from men at high cost.  

Fatoumata is working on establish a local community libraries to get girls onto reading. Gambian being a poor country with little or no reading culture, Fatoumatta wants to  introduce  this culture .  Most children do not have access to internet or books and Fatoumatta wants to get them access to such.  Fatoumatta has just been admitted at the Amujae Initiative, an initiative by HE Former President Johnson Sirleaf as one of 15 identified women emerging leaders in Africa .
