Sally Hetherington OAM

Young female building up a not-for-profit organisation, only to make herself redundant

Sally lived in Cambodia from 2011 - 2017. Seeing the unintended consequences of voluntourism, she teamed up with HHA Cambodia, a nightly English school at the time, to develop it into a reputable community centre that alleviates poverty.

This is an opportunity you won't want to miss. Be inspired as Sally tells the story of how she challenged her personal beliefs and realised she wasn't the hero of the narrative.

You will hear about Sally's empowering approach to development, whereby she successfully made herself redundant and left HHA Cambodia to be entirely run by local staff.

Learn and be inspired about how a person with a desire to make the world a better place can achieve amazing things; by being open to change and prepared to take actions that make a positive impact. And earn an Order of Australia Medal at the age of 33!

Sally's book, 'It's Not About Me' details her journey to sustainable development.
