Jo Salter
First female fighter jet pilot in the RAF and Director of Global Transformative Leadership for PwC
Jo Salter has enjoyed a successful career as a Royal Air Force (RAF) Fighter Jet Pilot, and was the first female fast jet pilot – flying the Panavia Tornado ground attack aircraft. Joining the RAF aged 18, Jo earned her wings to fly in 1992. A Flight Lieutenant of the 617 Squadron, Jo pioneered the sector as the leader of an all-male squadron.
Jo has also worked as a flight instructor, leading Air Cadets Air Experience Flights. Today, Jo is the Director of Global Transformative Leadership for PwC, having formerly enjoyed roles as the Director of Risk Technology Strategy, Director Chief of Staff to Head of Technology & Investments and Director of People & Organisations for PwC.
Having flown across no-fly zones in Iraq, Jo has demonstrated bravery and her ability to perform under immense pressure. In recognition of her commitments to the military, Jo was honored by the Queen when she was appointed MBE for Services to Aviation in the 2022 New Year Honours.
Jo has also been named as one of the 50 Most Inspiring Women in the World by Harpers & Queen and the BBC. She has also committed time to working as an Associate Lecturer of the Open University Business School and as a passionate Trustee of The Royal Air Force Club. In addition to her military duties and her corporate career, Jo has also shared her time with authoring two books titled Energize and Energy.
Now hired as a speaker, Jo inspires all as an advocate for women in the military, inspiring female pilots around the world to continue to obliterate glass ceilings. Jo has spoken at numerous events, including for the likes of Three, British American Tobacco, Wells Fargo and Imperial Tobacco. Having spearheaded a male-dominated sector, Jo Salter is the perfect International Women’s Day speaker who inspires women to break free from gender stereotypes and strive for equality.
