First Female CEO of Lloyd's of London in 328 Years

Dame Inga Beale DBE is a British businesswoman, who forged her success as the former CEO of Lloyd's of London. As the first female CEO of Lloyd’s of London in its 328 years of operation, Inga obliterated glass ceilings and gender stereotypes within the insurance market. In 1982, Inga began her career as a Reinsurance Underwriter for Prudential Assurance.

Quickly establishing a reputation as a talented insurance underwriter, Inga was appointed as the Group CEO of Converium in 2006. In 2014, Inga was appointed CEO of Lloyd's of London, largely responsible for leading the insurance company’s digital transformation strategy and modernising their infrastructure. She was also responsible for launching the Pride@Lloyds network and was named on the OUTstanding & FT Leading LGBT Executive Power List – the first openly bisexual person to be named no.1 on the list.

Leaving Lloyd's of London in 2018, Inga was subsequently appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for her services to the insurance industry. Most recently, in 2022, Inga was appointed as the President of the British Swiss Chamber of Commerce. She has also committed time to working as the Chair of the HIV Commission and launched the Insurance Supper Club, empowering leading female executives.
