Elizabeth Dennis
Inspiring, including & supporting women in politics, sport & beyond
Elizabeth has been leader of North Herts Council since 2021, is the District Councils Network lead on local government finance and sits on the Herts & West Essex Integrated Care Partnership. In these roles she advocates for women, from introducing a Women’s Safety Charter to North Herts to working to bring public sector organisations together to tackle health inequalities.
As a constituency women’s officer Elizabeth works to remove the barriers to access, inclusion and participation in politics.
Beyond politics Elizabeth is a competitive figure skater, former British Adult Champion and has competed and performed nationally and internationally. She is passionate about the role sport plays in ensuring good physical, mental and social health for everyone, regardless of age or gender.
In her personal life Elizabeth has overcome adversity, leaving home at 15 and having survived an abusive relationship. Like all of us she battles low confidence and has found ways to overcome self-doubt to succeed, challenging herself and stepping out of her comfort zone. She now works with women in politics, sport and professionally to help empower them to do the same.
