Heidi Ellert-McDermott
Encouraging women to speak Up & make an impact on speaker line-ups
Heidi Ellert-McDermott is a TV director/writer turned business owner and entrepreneur. She is passionate about encouraging women to grab the mic and have their voices heard whether it's as a keynote speaker, TEDTalker, or in a more social setting. She'd especially love more brides to have their say on their day.
Heidi started her career in television, working on a range of output, from news and current affairs to daytime and entertainment shows, and working with high-profile talent such as Sharon Osbourne, Richard Hammond, Dan Snow, Mel Giedroyc, and David Mitchell.
It was her love of comedy scriptwriting that led her to set up the speechwriting company, Speechy. Heidi’s innovative approach to speechwriting and her passion for encouraging more women to step up to the mic, has seen her quoted everywhere from The New York Times to The Observer, as well as The Daily Mail, Huff Post, Metro, and The Telegraph. She also regularly contributes to podcasts and radio - such as BBC Sound's Best Men podcast and Radio 4's Women's Hour.
She is the author of The Modern Couple’s Guide to Wedding Speeches (Little, Brown, 2023) and has plenty of practical tips on how to write great speeches and deliver like a pro.
