Sarah Amer Abed Shakrawee
Doctor, Civil society, humanitarian aids & women’s activist, has a strong background in training, medicine & psychosocial support
She is a family medicine resident physician, graduated from Al Kindy College of Medicine in 2021.
She joined the humanitarian effort in Iraq in 2021.
She started her journey as volunteer doctor and worked in numerous health and nutrition, mental health, psychosocial support projects.
In 2022, she co-founded a local NGO, called Iraqi telemedicine center. Since then she has served as the Executive Director of the organization.
Sarah is a public speaker, an advocate by nature, and a women’s rights activist, she conducted many awareness sessions for breast cancer and women's mental health. she also initiated volunteering opportunities for women in the medical field to practice their knowledge to serve the medical sector.
She works closely with the Iraqi Ministry of health, Iraqi Ministry of interior and other volunteering teams to support women, children and elderly.
she attended GBV training and many advocacy training to support women with Unicef and other local organizations in Iraq.
She holds a position as focal point for protection from sexual exploitation and abuse and as the director of ethics and compliance in Mercy hands local Ngo , and she works closely with Lawyers for Women organization to evaluate and psychologically support persons – or families of persons – who died or incurred physical or psychological injuries because of wars in Iraq.
Moreover, Sarah - is leading a charity clinic in Iraq, Baghdad, Sadr city.
The clinic includes a group of trained doctors, nurses and other healthcare providers.
They offering medical services and psychological support for neglected and low economy people.
Currently, she is coordinating with MoH, MoI and Baghdad governance to establish charity mobile clinics in the rural and red zoned ares in Iraq.
Sarah is well spoken and she speaks Arabic, English and French.
