Rachel Auty
Award-winning writer, speaker and gender equality activist campaigning for more women in beer
Rachel is a gender equality activist, accomplished marketing leader, writer, and dynamic speaker, celebrated for her multifaceted expertise in communications, coaching, and mentoring. With over 20 years of professional experience, she brings a unique blend of strategic insight and hands-on leadership to her work, underpinned by academic qualifications in marketing, leadership, management, and coaching.
A passionate feminist and advocate for equality, Rachel champions increased representation of women on boards and women in leadership roles. Her activism is particularly focused on advancing women’s leadership in the male-dominated beer industry. In recognition of her efforts to raise the profile of women in beer, she was awarded a Fellowship by the Royal Society of Arts (RSA).
In 2017, she founded Women On Tap CIC, a social enterprise dedicated to beer equality, and launched WOTFEST, a festival that celebrates women in beer while addressing systemic sexism in the industry. Her work in this area led to further accolades, including the British Guild of Beer Writers (BGBW) Best Beer Writer, Regional Media Silver Award in 2021. She was elected as a Director of the Guild in 2023, cementing her leadership in this space.
As a speaker and advocate, Rachel has become a sought-after voice on gender equality, particularly for International Women’s Day events. She is an active panelist and host, and an engaging speaker on topics including unconscious bias, the value of diversity beyond vanity, how (and why!) to effectively market to women, and the power of women as leaders.
Based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, she works across the UK and internationally, driving meaningful conversations and change.
