Garima Gedamkar is a specialist Neuro Rehab and Stroke ESD Physiotherapist in NHS,UK, with keen interest in space health and its terrestrial applications.

She holds degrees in neurology (Master of Physiotherapy, SVNIRTAR, India), rehabilitation (PG Dip, AIIPMR, India) and space (Space studies program, ISU, France).

Garima is the first physiotherapist to receive Dr. Kalpana Chawla Scholarship for Space Studies. Garima was a Teaching Associate for Southern Hemisphere Space Studies program 2022 at International Space University.

Since 2017, she is actively involved in research related to human physiology in space, exercise countermeasures for astronauts, and role of physiotherapy in human spaceflight.

Recognizing her contributions, she was invited as an esteemed guest at the Guayaquil Space Society webinar (Ecuador, USA) and later presented her research at NASA’s Human Research Program Workshop.

She has been a resource person for space physiology and physiotherapy in space at prestigious universities, schools, and private organizations across India, Bangladesh, Africa, and the UK.

In 2022, during World Space Week, she launched Astrocise: Exercise Countermeasures for Astronauts, an educational program aimed at introducing and promoting space physiotherapy.

She has also served as a mentor for Space4Women, an initiative by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), focusing on space physiotherapy and astronaut health.

Additionally, she is an Ambassador for Space Station Explorers, in collaboration with the International Space Station National Laboratory and NASA.
