Bringing Women's History to Life
Who doesn't just love a great story? History abounds with anecdotes, unexpected twists and turns, surpises and suspense. However, most of history has been written by, about, and for - men.
Women's achievements are, to his day, featuring far less prominently, or are plain overlooked.
Angela has been a professional heritage performer for about 25 years. As a freelance artist, she portrays different eras (from medieval to modern) and focuses often - although not exclusively - on female characters.
And not just the obvious candidates that are already household names, or "strong" women who accomplished the impossible.
She also gives a voice to the myriad of women who always held up half the sky. Made things work. Endured sacrifice or dealt with tragedy.
Some of her characters are well-documented (such as feminist revolutionary Olympe de Gouges, or suffragists like Anita Anspach, mobility pioneer Bertha Benz, Champagne widow Barbe-Nicole Clicquot and many more).
Others are no more than a name with a date of birth or marriage in a church register.
With thorough historical research, balanced performative methodology and great attention to detail, Angela endeavours to do them all justice. History is thus made accessible, entertaining, engaging.
Angela has been speaking about historical performance at international conferences and published many articles on the subject.
She is the author of two graphic novels about history, "Saarfari durch die Geschichte" and "Wilhelm und die glückseligen Inseln".
She is a member of heritage organisations such as the German Museums' Association (DMB), the Rhineland-Palatinate Museum Association (Museumsverband RLP), the International Museum Theatre Alliance (IMTAL), and the Public History Association (phfv D-A-CH).
Most of her clients are heritage authorities, event agencies, archives, museums, corporate or city jubilees.
As a speaker, she brings theatrical flair, great warmth, and dynamic delivery style to the table.
This will help get the audience enthusiastic about women's history, achivements, heritage, and place in the world.
Angela can offer keynotes, seminars or hands-on creative writing, improv theatre or character development workshops.
She can attend your event in role or costume, or talk about her work, helped by many colourful images and real props to look at and touch, such as historical fashions.
Why not celebrate female pasts on Women's Day?
